The BIPN60030C is a BYD Semiconductor intelligent power module (IPM) rated 600 V and 30 A, in a BIP27 package that mounts on a heat sink. It is the highest-current member of the family and integrates a three-phase IGBT inverter, the high-side and low-side gate-drive ICs, the bootstrap diodes and the protection logic on one package, so a larger motor can be driven from a few logic signals and a minimal external circuit. The internal protection includes under-voltage lockout and over-current protection, and the module provides a fault signal, which improves the reliability of the finished drive and shortens the development time. The integrated design reduces the electromagnetic interference and the number of external components, so a compact, high-performance inverter can be built on a small board, and the BIP27 footprint makes the heat sinking straightforward. The 30 A rating suits a larger compressor, pump or industrial motor. Typical applications include air-conditioner and appliance motor drives, pumps, fans and industrial variable-frequency drives, and the module pairs naturally with a BYD MCU that generates the PWM.
